A comparative evaluation of shear bond strength of immediately repaired composite resin – An in-vitro study
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this study is to “evaluate the shear bond strength of immediately repaired light cured composite resin using different bonding agents”. Forty recently extracted human incisors were mounted on acrylic resin blocks and cavity (5 × 3mm) was prepared at the middle third of the crown. The prepared cavity was etched, rinsed, dried and restored using Single bond adhesive (3M), composite and visible light cure unit. All the samples were then fractured in Instron machine and randomly divided into four groups (n= 10) depending on the type of bonding agent used during repair of fractured restorations: Control Group Ano bonding agent used, Experimental Group BSingle Bond, Experimental Group CPrime and Bond NT and Experimental Group DXeno III. All the specimens were repaired by composite (Z – 250) with application of bonding agent used according to groups. The shear bond strength of all specimens was tested using Instron machine. The result of the study showed that the mean shear bond strength of group D was highest followed by the Group B, group C and the Group A the least. The application of newer bonding systems were found to be more effective in increasing the shear bond strength of the repaired composite restorations.

In-vitro Comparison of the Impact of Four Types of Resin Composite on the Repaired Bond Strength and Surface Roughness After Sandblasting
Abstract Background and Aim: One of the major problems with resin composite restorations is the weakness of bonding between the new and aged composites. Since appropriate micromechanical retention is necessary for the repair of aged resin composite restorations, the level of surface roughness after sandblasting can be influential in this regard. Considering the diverse composition of avail...
متن کاملEvaluation of Shear Bond Strength between Amalgam and Composite: An in vitro Study
Background & Aims: Repair of defective restoration is more conservative than replacing it. Veneering the amalgam restorations with opaque resin materials can satisfy the esthetic demands. Evaluation of interfacial bond quality between amalgam and composite surface is one of the important factors in assessing the quality of repaired amalgam which can be achieved...
متن کاملIn Vitro Effects of Different Surface Preparation Techniques on Shear Bond Strength of Direct to Indirect Composite Resin
Objective: Repair of an indirect restoration is usually preferred over its replacement. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of silane in different surface preparation techniques on the bond strength of direct to indirect composite resin. Methods: For this in vitro experimental study, 48 indirect composite cubes were fabricated, divided into 4 groups of 12 and subjected to the following ...
متن کاملLaboratory evaluation of shear bond strength of porcelain repair methods
Introduction: Porcelain fracture is a relatively common problem in clinical dental practice. Various methods have been proposed for repairing porcelain fractures including direct composite resin repair or construction of a porcelain laminate veneer and its cementation with a resin cement. Evaluation of shear bond strength of porcelain repair methods was the purpose of this study. Methods: Tw...
متن کاملEvaluation of microtensile bond strength of repaired dental resin composite using different surface treatment techniques: A laboratory study
Background and Aims: Today, resin composites are one of the most commonly used materials in restorative dentistry. However, failure in resin treatments is also common due to its chemical nature and its high talent for decay recurrence. According to conservative approaches, "conservative" treatments are more likely to be considered than "Replacement" of damaged remedies. The purpose of this stud...
